Obituary for Petrus Joseph Lamers

Peter Lamers
March 26, 1930 - October 9, 2022

Beloved Cherished husband to Annie (nee Roes)Lamers and
dear father to Diane (Paul) Gadd, Charles (Rick Bullied), Peter (Barb Coe)
Michael (Shelia Rivers) and Jim (Frances Scanlon).
Peter was the eldest of 14 children of his late parents. Cherished grandfather of Josh (Hannah) Lamers, Krista (Chris) Moon, Jason Lamers,
Matthew Lamers, Michelle Gadd, Josh Lamers.
Great grandfather to five great grand children
Predeceased siblings Annie (Vanderheyden), Kees Lamers, Josie (Kersten), John Lamers, Katie Hoefnagels, Martin Lamers, Corrie (Kusters), Andrew Lamers
Cherished brother tomAntoinette Van de Wetering, Wilhelmina (Morris) Hoefnagels,
Aleida (Henk) Goris, Wilhelmus (Agnes) Lamers, and Mary Landuyt.
He will be missed by his extended family.
Peter came to Canada by ship in 1949 with his family. Became a Canadian citizen in 1977. Peter was a farmer and a trucker. He enjoyed watching wrestling, reading the newspaper keeping up on current events and spending time with his family.
He drove until 92 years of age to socialize with family, neighbours and friends. Almost every day for the past five years he drove to Trenton to have an A&W breakfast special.
If you ever needed to write something down he always had a pen and paper in his shirt pocket.

The family would like to thank everyone that took care of Peter since his first hospitalization of March of this year. In the Trenton Hospital, Belleville Hospital and Home Care between hospital visits. Special thanks to the staff of Hastings Manor nursing home in Belleville for your compassion, understanding and exceptional care during Peters final months and days.

As per Peter’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family interment is planned. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held in the spring of 2023 in London/Strathroy area where most of his siblings and extended family live.
