Obituary for Patricia Mae Whitfield (Billins)

Patricia (Pat) Mae Whitfield (nee Billins)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pat on June 24th 2020. Pat passed away peacefully at Hollowell House, Picton at the age of 68. Beloved wife of John and loving mom to Chad (Karen) and granddaughter Leah, dear friend of Deanna. Pat was loved by many. Daughter of Marilyn and Michael Billins (predeceased), sister to Colleen (predeceased), Katie, Mike (Jan), daughter-in-law of Don and Marie Whitfield (predeceased), sister-in-law to Judy (Al), Jane (Mike), Jennifer (Paul) and she enjoyed the company of many nieces and nephews.

Pat grew up in Etobicoke and as a young adult worked for Burlette Electronics. After marriage, John and Pat followed their dream to leave the city and moved east to beautiful Prince Edward County. Pat worked for in the local MPP Hugh O’Neil’s constituency office and pursued a career in real estate. She also worked in the family business Bossline Lift Trucks with John. Pat had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her twenties and as a result joined the local MS chapter and volunteered in administrative roles. Pat and John hosted several MS fundraisers on their property.

Pat had a way to lift anyone’s heart with her smile. She loved to make others laugh and could really come out with some great one liners. Even as life dealt some challenging times to Pat, her warm smile was always there. Pat was tiny in stature but big on warmth and love.

A private celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Special thank you to the wonderful, caring staff at Hallowell House who surrounded Pat during the years she lived there. Donations if desired to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
