Obituary for Michael Christopher Ryan Patterson

PATTERSON, Michael Christopher Ryan - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Michael Patterson a.k.a. Mikey/Sam on Friday, June 19th, 2020 in his 19th year. Our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend after a strong battle with Large B cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto.

Michael will be dearly missed by his loving parents Julie Ann “Juls” Sherman and Travis Patterson.
Loving brother to Courttany Patterson and Teej Patterson (Lydia), Uncle to Mila Patterson, soon to be born Brooks Michael Patterson, as well as his favourite fur baby Sniper. He will be dearly missed by his Grandmother Nello Patterson and Grandfather the Late Sidney Patterson, along with many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, many wonderful co-workers, new friends, and supporters along the way of his journey.

Those who knew Michael, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. We lost a true fighter, a man of few words but the person with the best dry humour you could ever imagine. Never a dull moment but you could always “Expect the Unexpected“. He always spoke his mind, he was extremely competitive with games, yet a determined soul. Michael never asked for anything but had the biggest heart of gold and was willing to help anyone.

If he was a friend to you, it was for life. He loved hard and affected many people. When you hear his name or think of him you cannot help to giggle a little bit if you really knew him. He was deeply committed to his future. After graduating from Centennial Secondary School in Belleville with Honours and winning multiple awards, he was heading off to Fleming College in Peterborough to become a Computer Engineer.

He loved teaching, working with people, and enjoyed many years as a Ski Instructor at Batawa Ski Hill, he was an avid soccer player, and an employee at McDonald’s, Glen Miller- His Don’s Family, he was known for his love for “The Office”, (Rainn Wilson played Character Dwight Schrute had sent a video message to him while in the hospital, wishing him well and told him he was going to wrestle him at the beet farm). I have never seen such a big smile on one person’s face.

We are truly honoured to have had Michael in our lives for 19 years.
In keeping with his family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Arrangements entrusted to QUINTE CREMATION AND BURIAL SERVICES, 205 N Front St., Belleville (613-962-7900).
