Obituary for Michael Bruce "Mike" O'Grady

O'GRADY, Michael Bruce in his 66th year passed away peacefully in Belleville on April 22, 2021 surrounded by family. Loving husband to Deane (nee Clendenning) and amazing father to Chris (Andreia) of Toronto and Jeff (Rebecca) of Toronto, step-father to Lee Parks (Christine) of Madoc and Krystle Humphrey (Phil) of Belleville, grandfather to Connor, Eli, Leigha and his soon-to-arrive 'peanut'. Beloved brother to John, Dan (Ninon) and Shawna (Pierre). Caring friend and adored family member to many others, too numerous to name. Mike will be remembered for many things: his generous and kind nature; quick wit and ability to make everyone laugh (sometimes, with off-colour jokes); spending one year in jail (as a prison guard at Millbrook Correctional Centre); strong dedication and success over 38 years on the distribution side of the newspaper industry, most of it with the Toronto Star; connoisseur of white wine, expert cooking and bartending skills; love of fishing and the outdoors, including regular trips to Opeongo Lake; hatred of solicitors and mosquitoes; and, for always telling it like it is. Most of all, Mike will be missed for his unwavering commitment to and support of all those whom he loved. He will be sorely missed by those lucky enough to have known him. The Family would like to express our thanks to Dr. Harrison, primary nurse Jaclyn and the rest of the Intensive Care Unit at Belleville General Hospital for the exceptional care, kindness and support provided. In remembrance of Mike’s life, the family asks that charitable donations be made to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation – Intensive Care Unit or the Canadian Lung Association. Due to current restrictions, celebration of life to follow in the near future. Online condolences can be made at www.quintecremationservices.com
