Obituary for Margaret 'Joan' Dawson
Margaret Joan Dawson.
It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Margaret Joan Dawson on Monday, June 8, 2020 at Hospice Prince Edward. Joan was in her 88th year.
Joan was predeceased by her father, John Dawson, and her mother Marion Dawson (nee Galey), and her sister Jane Simpson. Joan is survived by her three children, John (Hipwell), Scott (Hipwell), and Dianne (Falcone). Grandchildren include Erin, Shauna, Craig, Kristen, Mitchell, and Jack. Great grandchildren include Olivia, Henry, Charlie, and Teddy.
Joan was born in St. John, New Brunswick. As a child she moved with her parents and sister to Sudbury Ontario. She married in 1956 and eventually moved to the Belleville area in the early 1960’s. She was a homemaker for many years, and in later life, successfully ran a small property management company. Joan also volunteered for the local Big Brother Big Sisters organization for a number of years. Joan enjoyed summers at her cottage, travel, antiques and political discussion. She often shared her opinion on topics dear to her heart. More recently, she was inspired to find more detailed information on her family’s history.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration on Life will be scheduled at a later date once coronavirus restrictions are eased. Expressions of sympathy and condolences can be made to the family through the Quinte Cremation and Burial Services website.
