Obituary

Francis Bernard Roddy
July 3 1944-August 28 2020
Francis “Frank” Roddy passed away peacefully among family at his home in Belleville after a 6 month battle with lung cancer.
Frank will be dearly missed by wife Sharon (Matychuk) of 55 years, children Christopher (Angela), Nicole, and James (Sherri); grandchildren Evan and Madison, brother Tom Roddy (Sharon), and sisters Ursula Clark (Doug) and Genevieve Palmer.
He also leaves behind sisters-in-law Rose Matychuk, Kaye Wood, and Olga Bambush, as well as many nieces and nephews on both sides.
Frank will be reunited with his parents James “Ed” and Annie Roddy (Kernaghan), sisters Jane, Roseanne, and Mary, brother John, and brothers-in-law John Boreham (Jane), Joe Nelson (Roseanne), and Jerry Waters (Mary).
Frank grew up in and around Lakeport Ontario before moving to Belleville with Sharon, Chris and Nicole in 1978, where they welcomed James into the family. A career trucker, Frank spent many years hauling cars before retiring in 2005. He continued to drive for various companies in the years that followed. During his illness, Frank trucked vicariously through the reality series Ice Road Truckers.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who lent their support during the last 6 months, including Dr. Perrier, nurse Jen, and all the PSWs who helped Frank through his illness.
As per Frank’s wishes, cremation has been accorded.
The Day God Called You Home
By Christine Naro

You never said I’m leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knew why
In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still
In our hearts you hold a place
No one can ever fill
A million times we needed you
A million times we cried
If love alone could have saved you
You would have never died
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you Home

The family will be holding a Celebration in Frank’s honour on October 4, 2020 at the Belleville Banquet centre from 1-3pm. Please note COVID-19 restrictions apply.
