Obituary for Donald Allan Palmer

It is with great sadness the family of Donald Allan Palmer announce his passing on Saturday April 4th 2020, at Westgate Lodge in Belleville in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Hazel Audrey Palmer of which they spent 49 beautiful years together. Predeceased By his parents Homer and Dorothy Palmer. The most loving dad to Cheryl Donaldson ( Kip Harrison) of Belleville, Carol Herrington ( Scott) of Brighton, Jim Palmer ( Tina) of Cobourg. What an amazing grandpa he was to Scott ( Tracey), Amanda ( Joe), Stephanie ( Barrett ), David ( Holly ), Sarah ( Eric), Emily ( Andrew). He was also a very proud great grandpa to Kara, Marcus, Isaac, Fynnegan, Lincoln, Theodore. Predeceased by his brother Jack Palmer ( Lois). Loving brother (Donnie) of Nancy ( Bruce) McAlpine. Always remembered by the brother of this heart, his best friend Red Jack (Joanie) McGinnis. Also remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Perth, Ontario and moved to Foxboro with mom in 1984. He was the Handy Man of the village, looking after all of the seniors with painting and carpentry. He was more than willing to help everyone he could. You could always find anything you needed in his shop out back, where he spent his time building lawn chairs, picnic tables etc. Our dad loved to fish and if he wasn't in the shop you could find him on a lake, in a boat or on the ice. He hunted for many years at Camp 11-11 in Griffith with his hunting buddies. Our dad's greatest gift was his love of family, his strength to each and everyone of us, his smile, his laughter, his story telling( To Make a Long Story Short). Honesty, integrity, loyalty was his life. He lived those words everyday of his life. A very special thank you to the girls of Westgate Lodge, the love, caring and compassion you gave our Dad was amazing and will never be forgotten. Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend, we will miss you everyday and love you for all eternity. A celebration of Dad's life will be held at a later date.
