Obituary for Adrian Joseph Anthony
Anthony, Adrian Joseph (Tony), Ret’d Cpl- RCAF, passed away early Saturday, September 5th, 2020 in his 87th year, surrounded by loving family. He continued to be a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years.
Born (January 8th 1934) and raised in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Dad was the second youngest of ten children. He joined the RCAF at age 18, serving 28 years as an Aero Engine Technician. This included a four-year mission for NATO, post war Europe in the 1960’s (Belgium, France and Germany).
Dad also tended bar for decades at the Jr. Ranks Mess, later becoming manager following his official retirement from the Military. In his early years, he even drove a Zamboni as a part-time job.
Having been brought up in a musical family in Cape Breton, Dad was self- taught on the harmonica, glockenspiel, piano and guitar. He shared his love of music with family. While posted in Gimli, Manitoba, he played in the Air Force Band. He could really ‘cut a rug’ and won numerous prizes for jiving.
Dad will also be remembered for his work ethic, sense of fairness, hospitality, comical nature and generosity. He was always interested in keeping up with the lives of his children, grandchildren and family friends.
An avid sports fan, Dad played hockey and was a skip for curling teams during his military career and beyond. He also enjoyed cycling around the Bay of Quinte and was a natural alpine skier.
He remained a devoted Jay’s fan. You could be assured that during any visit to his home, if Dad wasn’t watching the news, he was engaged in some form of televised sporting event.
Fondly referred to as G’pa by his grandchildren, Dad always rooted for the underdog and enjoyed hearty discussions on politics. He expressed genuine care for others while remaining committed to his family all his life.
He is survived by daughters Tarina Anthony; Coralee Bain (and husband Paul) and granddaughter Olivia; Danette Anthony and grandson Mehdi (and wife Michelle) and granddaughter Amineh (and husband Sebastian).

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Gregory Leal for his care for many years as well as his receptionist Jennifer who always greeted us with a smile.
Furthermore, we would like to express our appreciation to the outstanding palliative care team at Trenton Memorial Hospital, including Dr. Minuk and Dr. DeGrace.
At Adrian’s request, there will be a private family celebration of life.
